Versus Arts is pleased to present Trace, Transfer & Transform, a solo exhibition by Turkish contemporary artist Hasan Yiğit, curated by İlayda Uzunarslan. On view from 27 June to 3 July 2026, the exhibition brings together a new body of monotype prints that explore memory, emotion, and the ongoing process of personal transformation.
We do not live in chapters; we live in impressions.
Trace, Transfer & Transform explores the subtle yet profound ways in which experiences leave their mark upon us. Through a series of monotype prints, Hasan Yiğit investigates memory, emotion, and personal transformation, examining how moments accumulate, overlap, and evolve into the narratives that shape our lives.
At the centre of the exhibition lies the recurring circular form. Appearing as an eye, a window, and a mirror, the circle functions as a symbolic space of observation and reflection. Each form contains a distinct emotional state, preserving traces of experiences that might otherwise dissolve with time. Together, these circular impressions create a visual landscape where the personal and the universal intersect.
Working through the inherently unpredictable medium of monotype printmaking, Yiğit embraces the delicate balance between control and uncertainty. Layers of ink are transferred, disrupted, and transformed through a process that resists repetition. The resulting works embody a dialogue between intention and chance, reflecting the ways in which life itself unfolds through both conscious decisions and unforeseen encounters.
Primary colours serve as the exhibition's visual foundation. From these elemental beginnings emerge increasingly complex relationships, emotions, and states of becoming. Through layering, movement, and transformation, the works suggest that identity is not fixed but continuously shaped by memory, experience, and change.
Because each monotype exists as a unique and unrepeatable impression, every work carries the singular record of its own creation. The print becomes both a trace of an action and a reflection of a moment that can never occur again. In this sense, the exhibition functions as an archive of transformation, preserving fragments of experience while acknowledging their impermanence.
Rather than presenting fixed narratives, Trace, Transfer & Transform invites viewers into an open space of reflection. It is an exploration of how we carry our experiences, how we are altered by them, and how transformation emerges through the continuous exchange between intention, chance, memory, and time.
Hasan Yiğit is a Turkish contemporary artist whose practice spans painting, photography, and experimental printmaking. Born and raised in Bursa, Turkey, he began his artistic journey through photography and independent expressionist painting before pursuing formal training in the arts.
In 2021, Yiğit graduated from Bursa Uludağ University with a degree in Art Education, where he developed a strong focus on printmaking. During his studies, he specialised in traditional techniques including woodcut, linocut, etching, engraving, screen printing, and monotype, establishing the technical foundation that continues to inform his practice today. In 2022, he presented his first solo printmaking exhibition at Orhangazi Youth and Cultural Centre in Bursa, featuring works produced during the global lockdown period.
Seeking new artistic and cultural perspectives, Yiğit later relocated to the United Kingdom and continued his fine arts studies at Arts University Bournemouth. During this period, his photographic work was selected for exhibition in London as part of Psychological Exploration. In 2025, he presented Unmuted, a major solo exhibition at Galeri N (Nilüfer Municipality) in Bursa, showcasing more than fifteen expressionist paintings developed over four years. The exhibition marked a significant milestone in his career and led to international recognition when selected works from the series were exhibited later that year at Design Festa Gallery in Tokyo, Japan, in a group exhibition curated by Cem Ağgelos Üstüner and Aida Fahimeh Nikooefard.
Later in 2025, Yiğit relocated to Bangkok, Thailand, where he expanded his artistic practice and research. In December of the same year, he presented a solo exhibition at Art4C Gallery, introducing the first chapter of his ongoing monotype series Confessions.
Yiğit's multidisciplinary practice explores the relationship between colour, emotion, memory, and personal transformation. Working across painting, photography, and experimental printmaking, he investigates how visual language can communicate psychological and emotional experiences beyond verbal expression. Influenced by his experiences living and working across Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Thailand, his work reflects an ongoing exploration of identity, perception, and human connection across cultural contexts.
Characterised by expressive colour relationships, circular forms, gestural mark-making, and layered surfaces, his work embraces the dynamic tension between intention and unpredictability. Through process-based experimentation, particularly within monotype printmaking, Yiğit creates spaces for reflection and emotional resonance, inviting viewers to engage with experiences that transcend language and geography.
