Pablo Caviedes’ On the Map series is presented in London between 16–22 May, curated by İlayda Uzunarslan. The exhibition brings together a multidisciplinary body of work including silk screen prints, artist books, and expanded visual narratives.
On the Map examines how geography is constructed, interpreted, and internalised, questioning the authority of mapping systems and their fixed representations of space. Caviedes reimagines maps as fluid and subjective territories, shaped by movement, memory, and perception.
Through layered silk screen works and the intimate format of artist books, the series unfolds as a reflection on navigation, displacement, and identity. The works invite viewers into a space where fragmentation and repetition become tools for rethinking how we relate to place and belonging.
Expanding across mediums, the exhibition situates Caviedes’ practice within a broader dialogue on migration and transnational experience. Set in London, a city defined by constant cultural exchange, On the Map opens a space for reconsidering personal and collective geographies in a shifting world.
Pablo Caviedes is an Ecuadorian-born visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and digital media, including animation and 3D processes. Having lived and worked across cities such as Paris, Barcelona, and New York, Caviedes has developed a transnational perspective that informs both the conceptual and aesthetic dimensions of his work.
His practice is deeply influenced by experiences of migration and cultural displacement, which have shaped his ongoing investigation into identity, belonging, and the dynamics between individuals and their environments. Caviedes’ work has been presented internationally, reflecting a continuous engagement with global narratives and contemporary socio-political conditions.
