Art space in Hackney
An art space in Hackney
Anastasija Pudane is often described as mythic and poetic, bringing femininity to the forefront of her narratives. She began her artistic journey at the Janis Rosenthal Art School in Riga, Latvia. Her current practice reflects her childhood surroundings, which she has carried with her, using memories of Baltic landscapes as inspiration to create her artworks in London.
Pudane has always been interested in drawing, painting, and printmaking, utilizing various mediums to capture moments, often referring to her work as a visual diary. She draws inspiration from her experiences, frequently exploring themes such as the human condition, relationships, life processes, motherhood, birth, and death.
Her project God, Please Give Me a Daughter serves as an intimate, reflective journey through difficult relationships, mirroring a woman's needs within those connections. With a focus split between observation and experimentation, these scenes celebrate conception. In 2019, she graduated from Camberwell College of Arts (UAL) with a Master of Arts. Pudane hopes her viewers can find excitement in everyday things, love, empathy, mystery, and the little details that have been lost in this digital era.
